I had a lovely conversation with Agnes McIntosh who is visiting her daughter in Newcastle, England at present. It was so good to get caught up on the last 40 years. This website is so wonderful. I also called Pat Thoung Sein (in Australia) she was cooking Christmas dinner early since it is so hot there right now. She had just visited with her brother John and family and cousins in Melbourne. Alex Sharma also just sent me an e-mail before leaving for San Bruno where his friend Pat and her son live.

This is really mind boggling, after all these years thanks to both Kenny and Juliet, their efforts have paid off. I, for instance felt like a forlorn soul since I departed from Burma in 1968. This Website has helped me go back in time like a timetraveller, so all I can say now is keep up the good work. Bye now, with lots of memories that I shall always cherish.......

I got onto the site sometime ago, but due to work commitments and other distractions, I haven't accessed the site for quite a while. The site has really gone ahead in leaps and bounds. Reading the comments of other alumni made me realise what I missed when my parents pulled me out of MEHS and sent me to India where I completed my education.

My mother, Daw Dalia Myat San taught at MEHS from 1956 to 1980. My mother, eldest brother Kendrick Myat San and I are now living in Singapore. My sister, Marilyn Myat San is now in Vietnam. Since all of us are from MEHS we were very excited to receive the address of this web site from an old friend.

Please encourage old students to circulate these addresses and update the webpage and also encourage more to attend the reunion in UK 2001. We will definitely be there.

Where is my friend Rita Ohri please? Last I heard she left for India. Who remembers me? I forgot the exact years I was there but I think it was 1960 to 1964. I want photos of my old friends please. Does anyone of you have a class photo of me?

Thank you for this website. Please feel free to contact me.

I heard the re-union of our old school will be in Birmingham. I had these important suggestions from Ko Ba Win who will be coming to the re-union. I think the comments are terrific. Can you help organize the monks in the Buddhist ceremony. There must be a lot of Buddhists there who may have some more input on this matter.

MEHS was Mrs.Logie's genius, but other important people helped her transform our lives. Teachers like Daw Ma Ma Gyi, Daw Aye Khin, Daw Khin Nu Swe, Daw Than May, Miss Tin, Miss Sen, U Than Tin, Miss Thein, Saya U Ah Wein and Miss Hallegwa (sp) come to mind for me; I'm sure others come to mind for you. I would very much like to be there to honor Mrs. Logie, but I think the ceremony also ought to honor and recognize these other teachers. I heard that the Rgn MEOSA had a ceremony (something like a hsoon-chway gathering) to thank those who were still alive. I think it will be nice if we can do something similar: a gathering that is both appropriately Methodist for Mrs. Logie, and Buddhist as well. Having been brought up a Baptist, I am at a loss as to what that should be, but there must be Burmese monks who preside over a kyaung or retreat whom we can invite to conduct prayers, perhaps in the nature of 'yay-set-kya' ceremony, memorializing by name, as one drips water. I'm not in touch with MEOSA-US, and I doubt if anyone would know me, but I wonder if you might know people to whom this might be suggested.

Such a gathering also might be the occasion for the establishment of a "Provident Fund" (if one does not already exist) so that we can help assure that the few surviving teachers have a decent and dignified remainder to their lives. I know Eu Beng has been outstanding in this regard".

Leo, do you remember Eu Beng? He sent money to help U Than Tin who became very very poor before his death. I heard he also helped some other teachers financially.

Sincerely,

Jennifer

Hello everyone,

This is Margaret saying Hi to all our friends from that wonderful school called M.E.H.S. I left school in 1961 and was then known as Margaret Hla Maung and my last teacher was Mrs. Esther Mitchell. My class mates at that time were Mya Mala Chan Htoon (now Georgian), Yvonne Mya Han and Susan Tun Tin, if any of you see this, I'd love to hear from you. One of my brothers Maurice with his wife Mie Mie live in Los Angeles.

My youngest sister June and I, together with our families live in Perth Western Australia and the rest of my family is still in Myanmar. I'm married to Errol Flynn (yes thats his real name) and the Flynn family were all at MEHS. There was Daphne, Errol, Winston, Denzil and Kelwyn. Mrs. Enid Flynn was the nursery teacher until 1959. All the Flynns are in Australia (from England) and Mrs. Enid Flynn is now 84 and enjoys wonderful health. I have some very nice photographs to share and will soon put on the Web. Would love to hear from any of you.

Update from the Clift sisters who recently got together when Carol visited Trish from Vietnam.

Trish had some surgery but is looking fit and well now. She runs a very successful catering business in Savannah and thrives on it.

The reunion was great and a lot of fun, laughter, and eating and drinking was involved. We drove to Washington and Maryland to catch up with old MEHS friends, which again was loads of fun, many bowls of mohinga later. The aquisition of the school songbook created many fond memories, sang a little off key!

Last year Trish visited Carol in China for a month. Prior to that, they visited Burma with their husbands in 1996 for 3 weeks and travelled all over... nostalgic & great!

Neil lives in England and John in Sydney, all keeping well.

I just received a letter from Agnes McIntosh now Daw Mya Than, who lives in Burma on Prome Road. She has a very happy life, it is good to know after all these years and she will be celebrating her 44th Wedding Anniversary in February. Her children are all successful professionals, one son is in Hollywood. She also has 3 grandchildren. She does come to visit her sister Jenny on the East Coast from time to time. I hope to speak to her on her next visit.

Pat Kin Oung and I are in touch weekly via e-mail and also by telephone. It is almost as if she is in the same room as I. We have caught up on our happenings and I just read the book her husband wrote "Who Killed Aung San?". A very provocative first-hand account of what happened to Aung San Suu Kyi's father and his newly-formed cabinet. It also vividly recaptured the sights and sounds of our dear homeland.

This is a marvellous web-site!

Our class of '65 recently had a mini reunion in Southern California. It was organized in a short time and the responses from our classmates were extremely positive. 13 of our classmates attended the reunion and we had a ball. We sang some old MEHS songs. Some of us haven't seen each other since high school (35 years) and we were all thrilled to see our old friends again. Needless to say our reunion was a tremendous success and we plan to have it again in 2 years. We hope the attendance will double in our next reunion. Thanks for the web site. However, I notice that quite a few of our classmates are not listed in the directory.

My siblings and cousins (all Kamdars) are now residing in Los Angeles, California except for the youngest cousin residing in Chicago. We are the 12 Kamdars that all matriculated from MEHS/(Dagon.)

Thanks to this website that I have found some of my classmates I have lost touch since I left the country. Would like to hear/keep in touch with anyone who remembers me.

MEOSA at Yangon is organising more old students annually. We are having a gathering every last Saturday of the month. Especially from 1964 to 1970 batch. In December 2000 we will be having a "Saya Kadaw Pwe". We still have about (10) teachers left and will give you more information later.

Anyone know where I can get a really authentic 'mohingha' or 'kaukswe'? Willing to travel anywhere in the UK, Europe or USA for that true 'Yangon flavour'!!! Seriously though, I have only just come across this website as a result of a chance meeting between one of my ex-colleagues and another ex-MEHS student who now lives in the UK! Well, what a surprise!!! What a website!!!

I'm pleased to say that I recognise many names I thought I had completely forgotten! If anyone remembers me (Winston Sharma) then please e-mail me at:
