Some time ago, I was contacted by an MEHS Alumnus who had left Burma, some 50 Years ago. This person rang me seeking my assistance to locate three siblings with whom he had lost contact since this person left Burma, and never seen after departure. This person had remembered me from my days as House Captain of Livingstone House and had seen my name and contact details, in our Alumni Directory on the mehsa.org Website. This person had a vague idea that the siblings were residing in Australia, but had no idea where these siblings were. Needless to say that after several months of investigating all sources, I was able to locate all three siblings and the Family was reunited. They all held a Reunion in Australia, after which the person who had sought my assistance visited me in Canberra with one of the siblings, and celebrated their being reunited after some 50 Years, something they never dreamed would happen. This is being written as an absolute tribute to Juliet Teoh and the Website she started. Without this, this Family would NEVER have seen the one member who they thought they would never again see. I must keep their identity (and gender) confidential in posting this, for reasons they have shared with me, but I assure that this is a genuine and a true story, one with the happiest of endings and many mutual friends who I can name as they are not directly involved, but know the family in question – the friends are Tin Aung Cho, Cho Set and Wallace Hla. Thank you and God Bless you Juliet, you have achieved a wonderful vehicle that has helped me to reunite loved ones. Without the site being there, one with the happiest of endings would not have been achieved. God Bless You Kenny, for maintaining it. Keep up the good work.
Sincerely, |

I was a pupil at M.E.H.S. My grandmother was also a teacher there. Her name was Mrs. A. Lansdowne. Anyone out there who has known of my grandma or was a pupil in her class I would like to speak to you. I remember Mrs. Logie. She was my headmistress when I was in school. Then also, Mrs. Flynn and Teacher Beacon was also a teacher there. I await a reply from anyone.

I attended MEHS from KG through Standard 8. I now live and work in California in the San Francisco Bay Area. Do you have a chapter in this area? We left Burma in 1963, so my memories of teachers, houses etc are not as vivid with the passage of time. Needless to say, Mrs Logie and her dogs left lasting memories.
Thanks. |

Today I had the privilege of speaking to Mrs. Dalia Myat San who is currently in Singapore, visiting her son Kendrick, for about a month. Mrs. Myat San is well, 90 years old, but with a memory as sharp as the day she taught me Mathematics, in Standard 7, and was thrilled to have been remembered. Mrs. Myat San sends best wishes to all her previous students. She would love to hear from you.
Sincerely, I enclose her address for you all to write: Daw Dalia Myat San |

The 2008 reunion was such a great success and I have enjoyed reading the comments from everyone. In my commentary, I decided to be different; I am going to acknowledge and thank the young, friendly and helpful friends that I met again after 40+ years in Bangkok and during my short but wonderful visit to Rangoon. To begin with, the young friends whom I met in Bangkok since 1963-64 are Ashok Nath, Ronnie Bomonjee, Eugene Sio, Marina Pereira, June Rajh, Nyunt Nyunt, Lilian Tar Kyaw, classmate Amin Gaziani. And I last met classmate Cecil Wagstaff in Hong Kong since 1964, Carol and Trish Clift in Bangkok since 1970. And in Rangoon, I had the pleasure and privilege to meet Kathleen Zaw Win (my host), Margie Sanche, Pyone, Jenny Su, Susan Po, Johnny Ko Ko Kyi and Cho Cho Win. Also Frank Chit and Peter Po, my soccer teammates; Thein Thein Mg and Charles Aung Win, my soccer rivals plus many many others at Sheila Lao's gathering since 1964. I want to extend my thanks and appreciation to Kathleen for sending tons of Burmese goodies to Bangkok for me through Nyunt Nyunt and others (as I wasn't sure if I could visit Rangoon) and Sheila for inviing me to the gathering at her place. And also to Halpin Ho, President of Kandawgyi Palace Hotel, for hosting a cocktail and dinner at "NUTS" Restaurant for me and my fellow MEHS alumnus. My sincere apology to Wa Wa Win Shwe (Alice Tun Shwe) for having trouble to find "NUTS" Restaurant and missed all the fun, friends and delicious food. Lastly,I want to thank my long time good friend Tin Tin for spicing up my stay in Bangkok, includig posing at least 6 pictures with me, all appeared at the reunion photo gallery. Now,I am looking forward to 2010. |

My check to Harry Taw is on its way to order a copy of Myanmar Cook Book. What a noble idea! Thanks to Ena Win and the Ba Khet siblings for their contributions. Whenever we have Burmese dishes, our ABC (America Born Chinese) daughter, Kristine, would enquire about the recipes. She has taken to the tastes and enjoys Burmese food. She can handle nga-pi kyaw, Ka-Lar Hin, Pork with Tha-Yet Thi Tha Nat, Shrimp with Chin Maung etc. Now with Ena's cook book I will not have to explain to her. With the recipes from the cook book she can prepare and enjoy many more authentic Burmese cuisines. |

Dear organizers for MEHS website, thank you so much for making this happen. It's been 35 years since I left the school, but looking into the website makes me feel like, back to the nursery in Methodist. Lots of familiar faces in the reunion from my sisters' classes, but I can only see Candy Hein Tin from my batch. Hello, Candy. Also hello to Ma Ma Helen Sein. Miss you, you're always been the same. Thank You. Patti |

Antonia and Kim Mckertich's comments about the Nativity Plays bring back memories of yesteryear. I remember Myrna Rodrigues' pure sweet tones and it was a foregone conclusion that she would get the role of Mary in the Nativity Play performed at the Methodist Church. That year I was Angel Gabriel - I think I was chosen because of my height and maybe because I did appear in a few plays. They are very fond memories of MEHS. |

In response to Grace Rorke - I was in contact with Tom Manton a few years ago. He was a Pastor either in the Czech Republic or Yugoslavia (I cannot remember which) and was very glad to hear from me. His brother David was in the same class as I and Gillian in 1949 --- Gloria and Marina will remember also. Doreen like I vaguely remembers most contemporaries. I also purchased one of the last Rangoon Cookbooks the Methodist Church put together and received a lovely letter from Mrs. Karis Manton in Illinois who knew my grandmother very well. We lost touch after that unfortunately. |

It's exciting to have the opportunity to browse this website and at the same time bring back many memories of M.E.H.S. I matriculated in 67-68 and left Burma in 1972 to Macau. Being Chinese born in Burma, I have moved to many countries and now in New York. All was forgotten and came back while I was reading the comments. Thanks for all who contributes to this website, so that I was able to bring back all the joys and memories of my childhood. However I am kind of disappointed because I did not see any classmate's correspondence in this website. Unfortunately, I was not able to keep contacts with any of the graduates of 67-68 afternoon school. Hi folks, if you see this, I would like to keep contact with you guys. I believed there is a Burmese restaurant in New York, around E7 Street between 2nd and 3rd Ave. Email: puizhen@gmail.com |

I am trying to locate Dr. Thomas B. Manton. He is not at the e-mail address I was given some time back. We were pupils at the school, Eileen, Pat, Alan, Tom and Grace Rorke with Doreen Logie and so many others till the Japanese invaded. Rev. Manton and his family and our family remained in touch for the coming years, and I saw Thomas in New York in the not so distant past, but for some reason he is not replying and I am concerned. I cannot get in touch with any of the family and would appreciate it very much if anyone has any contact with Thomas or his brothers, or Alexander Thomas' eldest son. I await a reply - hoping against hope. Sincerely

I said once before that as we retire, we are coming out of the MEHS woodwork. I love browsing through the photos. I have not been reading the comments lately. Reading the last comment by Antonia made me think back to those Christmas plays. I thought I was the cat's meow when I was chosen to play the angel Gabriel one Christmas. We are scattered far and wide over the globe yet we have been able to read little snippets of memories in the MEHSA site. - Better than facebook, don't you think? Regards for 2008, |

All it takes is a few words and the Internet to bridge the gap of many, many years and how delighted I am to receive e-mail from some class-mates and seniors who remembered details like my 'black hair' and 'lovely eyes' and others who shattered my ego by saying that the name was 'very familiar' but 'not the face'!!. Someone had mentioned in the 'comments column' the names of Doreen Sharma, Kim McKertish and Myrna Rodrigues. Doreen and Kim were my class-mates and Myrna lived close to my place, had a golden voice which still reverberates in memory in Somewhere Over The Rainbow and the Nativity Play in which as Mary she sang There's a Song In The Air. Well Myrna, I was Ruth in the same play and got more carried away by your voice than by my role. Antonia |

This has been a foreign web-site for the past 2 or 3 years! Everyone seems much younger - what happened to all the old goats? Ha! Ha! I have not visited in a while. Hope your Reunion goes off with a bang although it cannot possibly be as enjoyable as the one with the Logies in England. While sitting by my remote-controlled fireplace I decided to call a few old friends. One of them, Myrna Rodriguez expressed a wish to catch up with old friends. She does not have a computer and does not email. However if you get in touch with me I can give you her address or phone number. She especially mentioned Marina & Pip and the McKertishs. We are in the throes of the holidays so good wishes to all. The Mahoneys |

Had I known such wonderful discoveries were possible I would have got involved with the Internet long ago. The list of names took me back in time... half a century ago and it confounds me how you cannot always remember what happened yesterday and yet recall so vividly Jacqueline Wade's golden ringlets, Doreen Sharma's ebony-black braids, Muriel Lee's eternal centums in maths, Ivy Chit's double promotion when she joined Marybelle Ba Maung Chain's class and became astoundingly more brilliant with each passing day and strangulated her slender waist with the crimson leather belt which was the vogue then... and how can I ever forget Miss Charity Thein who taught me to love Maths or Miss Irene Rosair whose histrionic rendering of Richard II can never be expunged from memory and no doubt kindled the literary spark in all of us who ultimately opted for English Literature. I must stop now but please, if anyone would like to get in touch with me, do so immediately. Antonia. |

Hello! I was more than just thrilled to see the MEHS page because I was a student of that school from '49-'54. Known as Antonia Moses then, Kalyani Davidar now, I wonder if any of my classmates remember me. I can recall each and everyone of them especially Ivy Chit the brilliant one whom I'd love to contact. We were in the same class along with Winnie Pe Than, Doreen Sharma and Donald MacIntosh and Miss Charity Thein, Miss Rosair and Mrs. Hein Tin were among our teachers. Mrs. Doreen Logie was our beloved Principal. The page took me back in time and how I wish I could renew the contact of more than half a century ago. My love to all the MEHS students of my time there.
