I discovered this website by chance! You can't imagine the excitement and joy I am experiencing!! I joined the School from nursery and left in 1964 when I was studying in the 7th standard. Migrated to Pakistan and presently live in Karachi.

I was browsing sites on Myanmar and on 'search' I put 'Myanmar Airways' (my previous profession was an airline pilot with PIA). I don't quite remember the search engine - I think it was 'Looksmart'. One of the sites that came up related to an air accident in Myanmar and the captain of the flight was from MEHS; from there to your home page!

I traveled to Myanmar after 32 years in 1995 and naturally visited MEHS. It was nostalgic. How time flies!

I will enter my name in the Alumni Directory and will also keep in touch.

I excitedly look forward to tracing my friends and class mates.

...God bless you all

I went through the MEHSA web site today and find many new comments. It's getting better and better making friends closer and closer, as we grew older and older.

Hi

It was great to know that my old school has a website! It has taken some time to get to this stage of communication because I have been extremely busy. I got a little more than nostalgic when I looked up the class photographs to find my aunt's photograph. She was Phyllis Tin and I have very few photographs of her.

My maiden name was Lynette Tun Tin and I came to Australia, direct to Hobart, Tasmania, in 1961. Nevertheless, I still get homesick for Yangon and the friends and family I left behind. There is one particular friend with whom I have lost touch, so if anybody knows the whereabouts of Edith Mariano, please let me know. I know that she worked at the French Embassy in Yangon for some time and then married and went to live in France, although someone did say that she ended up in Africa somewhere??

I periodically see Cecil Wagstaff who is an executive with a local domestic airline, based in Canberra. I have also been in touch with Denise Taborda and Fay Fencott both of whom live in Western Australia.

For a quick catch-up.... my immediate family is scattered widely, with my sister, Peta, in Melbourne, one brother, Jeffrey, in Adelaide and the other, David (who didn't attend MEHS) in Ballarat. My husband is originally from Germany and we have two daughters, Monika lives in Canberra and has just made us grandparents and Erica lives in Melbourne and planning marriage sometime next year. Joerg, my husband is an artist and also writes a commentary on art for the local newspaper, added to his teaching commitments.

I work for the government of the State of Tasmania in a very challenging job, working with migrants both longterm and recent arrivals. Tasmania's economy is not very bright at the moment and we are losing population with our young people moving to mainland Australia in search of jobs. Thus, part of my work includes finding ways of attracting a larger migrant share to the State, without taking jobs away from Tasmanians.

If you visit this part of the world, please look me up... Tasmania is a beautiful island and we are inundated by tourists during the summer. In the winter they are here to ski. Winter weather is also beautiful with crisp temperatures but sunny blue skies most days.

Until the next time.

P.S. I think this is a great way of keeping in touch and I hope to be able to visit the page regularly. If any of you visits Tasmania, please do not hesitate to let me know and I would be only too pleased to help you see the State.

Great work and congrats to whoever is putting this together. I'll try and be of assistance as we go along.

I'll try and be there for Y2000. What ideas do you want? May I know who you are? Too young to know us from the class of '58?

It will be nice to site the countries in which we are as part of the address. I am in the Philippines. Makati.

How to get alumni to come to Baltimore? By making them visit "our" site and by keeping the site interactive and friendly. Eg a search for an ex schoomate service. One of us may know where your friend is.

Let me know how I can help. Best wishes.

Ashok

Congratulations to the Webteam and all MEHSA members. You have a great Website. Keep it up. During my school days, I was in the same class with David, Edward and Fred Teoh. I got to know of this website through Gloria.

Allow me to share through your website some interesting news about networking, participating and sharing your experience and helping people through the use of Internet. I am in the process of setting up a NON-political and purely development focused Website named "Myan-Net for Development" in collaboration with the UN. Already my brother and a number of the alumni are working together with me in the steering committee to implement the project.

With such a wealth of expertise and experience in America, Europe and Asia, I encourage the MEHS alumni to participate in the activities of Myan-Net when it comes online soon on the Web. We are working on it but we need inputs from you to improve the Website as we go along. Through the website/mailing list, you can discuss, share experiences and ideas to help the people through practical but effective, modest schemes e.g. in health and education fields or any other sector. This will hopefully lead to an improvement in the overall delivery of basic services to the people, through honest discussions, analysis and developing alternative strategies.

In the meantime, I am setting up a database of professionals both overseas and inside the country so that people all over the world will be aware of the expertise available. This information can be utilized for our members' personal needs as well as for general development tasks and projects anywhere in the world. We have to start from scratch in buiding this database, it will become easier when the website gets online. Your comments and ideas are welcome.

Sample of Professional data:

Dear Friends,

I learnt about the Website today. What a great idea, it is fantastic !! Congratulations to whoever initiated the idea and then set it up.

This is Cecil Wagstaff from Canberra, Australia. I was in the G.C.E. Class that Graduated from the M.E.H.S. in 1962. You may also remember my late mother, Mrs. Moira Wagstaff, who worked in the Administration Office.

I left Burma in 1963, and spent 14 Years in India, in New Delhi, Calcutta and Bombay, working with Air France and then Lufthansa German Airlines. I moved to Australia in 1977 and spent some time in Sydney, before being transferred to Canberra. I am still in the Airline Industry and work with Ansett Australia.

I would love to hear from all of you, especially those of you who live in Australia. I do travel overseas often and will definitely contact you to say 'hello if I am in your country of residence. Please do the same if you arive in Australia or if you live here. I have tried to stay in touch with as many of my schoolmates and some of our teachers as possible, and have many of their addresses.I will certainly advise all of them of this fantastic opportunity to renew our friendships and re-establish the bonds of our school days. In my next lot of comments, I will compile all the names and addresses.

May I request that each of us who know of this terrific web-site do the same so that the circle can grow.

I also have some photographs.I would like to know where I can send copies if there is a degree of interest in including these. I will try to scan these in and transmit.

One bit of sad news. To all of you who remember Mrs. Elsie A. Evans, our beloved and Strict English Literature Teacher, I regret to advise you that she passed away in December 1997, in England.

I will wait to hear from all of you.
All the very best
Sincerely
Cecil Wagstaff

Thank you for taking the initiative to set up this web site. I think its a wonderful idea for all former students of MEHS, fortunate enough to get onto the internet to keep in touch with one another.
