MEHS Memorial Foundation, Yangon Contributed Ks. 500,000/-  (5 Lakhs) and MEHS/BEHS (1) Dagon Alumni Society  contributed Ks. 500,000/-   ( 5 Lakhs)  for the Awarding Ceremony of the outstanding students of BEHS (1) Dagon Township, Yangon , Myanmar held on on 11 November 2018 at MEHS/BEHS 1  Assembly Hall  at 9 :00 a.m

Announcement.

The MEHS Memorial Foundation, Yangon Working Committee meeting 9/2018 was held on 30 September 2018 (Sunday), and the following decisions were made;

  1. Education Support: To award Ks. 100, 000 each to five students from Basic Education High School No: 1, Dagon Township, who stood within the First 10 position in the Whole Myanmar Matriculation Exam 2017/2018.
  • Ma Thynn Mya Nway, 1st in Myanmar, BEHS No: 1 Dagon. Total Marks gained 553.
  • Ma Su Yee Wynn, 2nd in Myanmar, BEHS No: 1 Dagon. Total Marks gained 552.
  • Ma Su Nay Chae Moe, 3rd in Myanmar, BEHS No: 1 Dagon. Total Marks gained 551.
  • Ma Yamin Aung, 6th in Myanmar, BEHS No: 1 Dagon. Total Marks gained 550.
  • Ma Su Myat Oo, 10th in Myanmar, BEHS No: 1 Dagon. Total Marks gained 548.

Ks. 500,000 will be handed over to Dr. Aung Ko Ko, Principal of Basic Education High School No: 1, Dagon Township at the MEHS Memorial Foundation Annual Lunch to be held on 20 October 2018.  The Principal will further arrange to give the Prize Award of Ks.100, 000 to each student mentioned above, at the BEHS No: 1 Dagon Parents -Teachers Association Annual meeting and Saya Kadaw Pwe which will take place in January 2019.

Since there is no applicant for the “Achievement Award” in 2017/2018, it was decided that Ks.500, 000 will be used to provide as Five Awards to the students as listed above in the academic year 2017/2018.

Please be informed that the “Achievement Award” is presented annually to a student who is a child or a grandchild of MEHS Alumni (1954-1980), and has gained highest marks (>500) in the Matriculation Exam.

  1.  Welfare Support: There are four Retired Staff members of MEHS namely; (1) U Khin Tun, (2) Daw Htwe,  (3). Daw Mya Mya and (4) Daw Margaret.

A decision was made at the meeting to provide these 4 elderly retired staff with Welfare support of Ks. 100,000 each, annually from the YWC Welfare Funds. Each of the 4 staff will be provided Kyats 100,000/- on Saya Kadaw Pwe day, each year.

We welcome any additional contributions from MEHS Alumni and friends, far and near.

2018 MEHS Foundation Scholarship Award

At the 27 May 2018, MEHS alumni Yangon Working Group meeting, scholarships within the scope of the MEHS Memorial Foundation were issued, covering children/grandchildren of Alumni and staff of MEHS/BEHS1.

Myanmar President U Htin Kyaw resign!

Myanmar President’s office released a statement stating that President U Htin Kyaw resigned on March 21st as he would like to take a rest. A replacement would be in place within seven working days.
Pyithu Hluttaw Speaker U Win Myint is rumored to replace U Htin Kyaw.
U Htin Kyaw is an alumni of MEHS. He graduated in 1963.


MEHS receives Yangon City Heritage Plaque

Yangon Heritage Trust installed a coveted Heritage Blue Plaque on the MEHS building during the weekend of January 20th, 2018.
Many of the alumni who attended the 10th MEHS International Reunion were there to observe the inauguration ceremony where the Yangon Heritage Trust placed the blue plaque to the MEHS building recognizing it as one of the Myanmar Heritage sites!!

Ma Su Nyein San receives 2017 first MEHS Memorial Foundation scholarship award. She is the grand daughter of our MEHS teacher Daw May. Ma Su Nyein San is currently attending 3rd year English Major class at Dagon University The award was given by Dennis Tan at the 2018 reunion Yangon Working Group meeting held on February 26th at the Doreen restaurant.
Congratulations to Ma Su Nyein San!!

Kenny Teoh Awarded with Juliet Teoh Memorial Award

2016 Juliet Teoh Memorial is given to Kenny Teoh for his effort and dedication and to the MEHSA website. With his creative idea and skill Kenny Teoh has developed MEHSA website and for 20 years he has single handedly maintained and enhanced the website updating any information that other alumni has uploaded. Kenny has announced his retirement in October as webmaster of the website.

We hope to keep maintaining the website and fulfill his dream of a site where MEHS alumni from all over the world can connect with each other.

Mary Thein Han Won A Myo Tha Sar Pay Su Award

Congratulation to Mary Thein Han, class of 59, for winning the prestigious A Myo Tha Sar Pay Su award. Mary Thein Han, whose Burmese name is Khin Myo Han and married to Professor Dr. Myo Min, is a pediatrician and won the award in the practical science section.
